We are a historical fencing association, founded in 2003. Our Salle lies in Helsinki Jakomäki; Our devotion is to uphold the historical aspect of Historical European Martials arts (HEMA for short). Our standard classes run five nights a week and they range from instructed classes to free fencing.

Suomen Historiallisen Miekkailun Seura ry, SHMS for short, is a historical fencing association, founded in 2003.

Our standard classes run five nights a week and they range from instructed classes to free fencing.

Under our tutelage, one can learn the elegant weapon style of a renaissance also known as The Rapier, study the origins of the western arsenal with The Sword and Buckler, or train with the King of weapons otherwise known as the Longsword. We also offer to study with us the straightforward and effective sabre of yesteryear’s armies.
